Almost 70% Population in India earn their livelihood through agriculture. Animal husbandry is an integral part of agriculture based community. Animal husbandry contributes substantial chunk in gross domestic product of our country. India has surpassed Western countries and has become the largest milk producing country of the world. Production of milk, milk products, wool, leather and other animal products and by product is increasing at a very fast rate.
Animal products from India has always been in great demand in foreign countries, be it Pashmina wool or leather. Also the consumption trend of animal product, be it milk or meat, is changing positively, though it is still pathetically lower than western countries. There is ever increasing demands of these products. To meet all these demands India need a large no of animals and consequently large no of trained animal health workers. Tragically, India has dismally less number of trained Veterinarians and Para Veterinarians to serve the job. Most of the animal go untreated or fall prey to untrained quacks.
IPSR & IPMT has set a goal to produce quality trained parapets who can take up the job efficiently and do justice to it. Students from veterinary stream can join different govt. and non govt. organizations dealing in animals. They can also join private companies dealing in animal drugs or animal products like milk.
